What an amazing weekend! Crazy8’s films and their filmmaking teams claimed noteworthy accolades and screenings at this year’s Whistler Film Festival Nov 29 – Dec 3.
From gripping narratives to innovative storytelling, their achievements illuminated the festival. We celebrate their success!
It was a pleasure to check in with Crazy8s alumni Kay Shioma Metchie (Director of WEEDS ARE FLOWERS, TOO, 2022) pitching her latest project SPLIT ENDS; and Tony Mirza (Director of EARTHLICKERS, 2014), pitching THE SOUND OF SILENCE, at the MPPIA Short Film Award Competition. Congratulations to Crazy8s alumni Eloise Cameron-Smith (Producer of Hellmark, 2023), attached producer to the MPPIA Short Pitch Competition winning project, Sasha Duncan’s Easybake.
We were also delighted to see Crazy8s alumna Ava Maria Safai (Director of ZIP, 2023) in attendance at the Shortwork 3: Women In Focus screening and Q&A; alumni Writer Ryan Bright (Sacrifice, 2014) at the screening of Zoe.mp4; and alumni The Affolter Brothers (Directors of The Undertaker’s Son, 2017) at their screening and Q&A for ALTONA. Congratulations to ALTONA on winning the World Documentary Award; and to ZIP for its Honourable Mention for the Canadian ShortWork Award. See the full list of award winners →
