Alicia Bernbaum’s Top Ten Things She Loves About Crazy8s

  1. Being a part of a lifelong community of filmmakers and community partners. Having those doors opened is irreplaceable value for future creative projects.
  2. Being a part of the team implementing new workshops and growing the program from alumni feedback – like our brand new post-production workflow this year which will expand what is possible for the Top 6 Films.
  3. I love being a part of a team that has regular weekly meetings, truly believes in the filmmakers and each other.
  4. Being a part of the video pitch jury for the last few years has been amazing. Now, there are brand new video pitch judges (think TOP filmmakers in BC) and brand new In-Person Pitch Judges – this means your work gets in front of good people.
  5. Helping out indie filmmakers who are pushing their creative boundaries and organizing strategic partnerships like waived location fees, actors insurance and more – it truly is a huge joy.
  6. Seeing the joy on the faces of everyone working on a Crazy8s film knowing that it’s going to screen in front of so many people. Seeing the pride in all of the cast & crew.
  7. Watching directors, producers and writers get media coverage and see themselves in a new professional capacity they may not have seen themselves in before.
  8. Being a Co-Producer I’ve had many opportunities to read the Top 6 scripts and being asked for feedback is a huge joy. I love helping the writers and producing teams make the best movie.
  9. I have always enjoyed the recognition that our community gets when someone mentions working with Crazy8s – it’s a known brand across Vancouver and even into LA and Toronto.
  10. Seeing the amazing sets and wardrobe come to life because of the assistance of the community sponsors and supports and top talent that come out to help design and bring to life each vision.
