Feeling out of place as a half-Japanese male, Benny undergoes a new surgical procedure called “Beyond Asian.” This advanced technology allows individuals to erase their non-Asian heritage and implant artificial memories, transforming them, into fully Asian.

Born in Canada, Ely wanted to be a filmmaker after his father brought him to watch Speed Racer in theatres. Being half-Japanese, he hopes to craft stories that deal with identity and culture in a comedic light. Attending Capilano University for four years, he is now attempting the long shot dream of becoming a director. Will he make it? Who knows. I don’t know. I’m unemployed right now.
Ione, a Canadian born Filipina and Sri Lankan, graduated Capilano University with a BFA in Film and a concentration in producing. Never did she think she’d be a producer, but here we are. Her goal through her work is to support the stories and perspectives of her peers to further connect and bring community among those who may not feel represented enough.
Madeline Zimmerman is a Writer and Producer, proudly from Kwantlen First Nation. She’s a recent graduate of Capilano University’s Motion Picture Arts Degree, and has a current passion for small indie projects within Vancouver’s Film Community. Madeline is grateful to have been given the opportunity to work alongside an incredible cast and crew for Crazy 8s 2026!
Originally from Hong Kong, Kevin Cheng is an emerging filmmaker based in Vancouver. His most recent credits include the Leo Award–winning Crazy8s short film “Astronaut” (2024), which he wrote and directed. In addition to his independent projects, Kevin works in the production side of visual effects, contributing his organizational expertise to a range of work. He is grateful to be part of bringing “Full Asian” to the Crazy8s screen this year.
